Hello, My name is Cara and I initially trained as Nursery Nurse and Specialist Teaching Assistant. I have worked in education settings including pupil referral units, Health Visiting Teams, Audiology and Local Authorities.
I've achieved a Masters Degree (Merit) in Play & Creative Arts Therapy and was Accredited as a Play & Creative Arts Therapist in 2013 by Play Therapy UK (PTUK). I left this organisation in 2016 and am now a Registered Member of BACP which is the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I have undertaken extra training in understanding children's challenging behaviour; Autistic Spectrum Disorders; Babywatching Against Aggression and Anxiety for Sensitivity and Empathy; British Sign Language (Level 2); Working with attachment and Looked After Children and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (level 1)
I have a particular interest in trauma and sensori-motor responses (body memories) and as part of my MA in Play Therapy I have done an exploratory study into the non-verbal therapeutic process involved in the use of sandplay with Looked After Children, who have undergone a
In addition, I have a Certificate (stage 1) in Adult Education and have delivered Social & Emotional training and deaf awareness to professionals. I also studied with Canterbury Christchurch University to achieve a Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy (Merit).
I have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and have a Professional membership with:

My work is focused around helping children and adolescents & their families and I welcome referrals from individual clients, schools, Gp's,parents, Social Workers & Looked After Children Teams, including virtual schools.
